When people talk seriously about “natural” wines, they talk about the organic wines of Mas de Gourgonnier. In the heart of Provence in the 1970s, this family estate was one of the first officially certified organic wineries, back when such a practice was seen as foolish for vine growers trying to make a living.
The Les Baux de Provence Réserve du Mas has shows nice complexity with saddle leather, dried herbs, garrigue, pepper and cedar exploding from the glass. This wine is medium-bodied with rich fruit, solid balance and slightly dry, savory tannin that frames the finish. A very nice wine that will be versatile on the dinner table.
Food Pairing: just about anything, very food friendly wine with grilled steak, lamb, and richly flavored cheeses.
